Eastman Chemical fire?

Just seen this on tricities.com...the headline says "BREAKING NEWS: Massive fire engulfs Eastman, 6 dead; city on fire" Updated today at 1:44 p.m.

But the article is a little messed up right now...anyone heard about this???

That would be terrible if that is a serious fire, it would kill Kingsports Economy not to mention the amount of jobs that would be lost even by people here in Wise Co.

Hope it isn't serious either. Strange how it was up though, something was wrong with the link, so maybe that's why they took it off. No one else has anything up yet that I've seen. I just searched for the link again, found it on the local yahoo section. Just says something about a flash fire, and a beat-up pick up truck touching off a fire days ago???? Don't know. Would be a pretty big mistake by them if there wasn't anything and have that up for a good 30-40 minutes.

An error led to the publication of a fake story on this website earlier today, and Tricities.com wants to assure site visitors the story was not legitimate and regrets the error that led to its posting.

The fake story was created during a training session for journalists Thursday designed to teach them how to put stories online in breaking news and daily situations. In leading the training, Christine Riser, General Manager of Tricities.com, created an article with a future posting date to simulate an emergency situation. As the training progressed, Riser de-activated and believed she later deleted the story to prevent it from posting live to the website. That didn't happen, as the story appeared on Tricities.com Sunday afternoon and remained there for approximately 45 minutes. It was seen by 1,112 online visitors and sparked calls of concern before it could be removed.

"I created a fake story headline using a real business during the training session. The intent was for this to be used as a training scenario only, never as something shared outside of the training session. I'm sick that this story inadvertently published and apologize for the error as well as any misunderstandings or concern it created."? said Riser.

The story that mistakenly went live on Tricities.com contained a headline and a few words about a supposed fire at Eastman in Kingsport. During the training, the scenario story was attributed to a reporter at the Bristol Herald Courier, a news partner of Tricities.com.
